Lovely pots!

(viewed 789 times)
These are just the Sunday firing pots. I didn't get
pics of all the Saturday pots arranged on the lovely
little garden wall. I'll put those up when Steve puts
his online for me to grab.So Yay! Pots!! Planning another firing in July, as I
lost two big lanterns to the kiln gods

Close-up of dragon jar

(viewed 773 times)
I thought this jar came out particularly lovely.
There is no glaze on the dragon carving. The clay
turns black from burning in the newspaper. (and then
the pot smells like burnt marshmallows. LOL)

flaming pots!

(viewed 882 times)
This is Steve and Jim, grabbing the hot pots with
tongs and putting them into the cans of newspaper.
Fire! Fire!! Fire!!! Oh, and Kathy off to the side
taking more pictures. I expect I'll have more stuff
to put up once I get pics from Steve's camera. The
pots sit in the newspaper and burn until the next
batch of pots is about ready to come out of the kiln.

Glowing pots after the kiln lid comes off...

(viewed 843 times)
Gas shut off, lid lifted off and yes, those are
red-hot glowing pots! Now they go into the cans of
newspaper and get all flamey and stuff, and the molten
glaze gets flamed and does nifty tricks like change
colours and turn metallic. Yay!

peeking inside the raku kiln

(viewed 1377 times)
Glowing pots during raku firing! I think you can see
the pot is just getting shiny, so the glaze is just
starting to melt. We had a lovely party-type dealy
and did firing on Saturday and Sunday.
