Finally something other than bugs! And I know what you're thinking: it just had to be birds. ;D

It was the first time I sighted this bird. There was a big flock passing by but sadly they didn't give me many opportunities to get decent shots, so these were the only I got. Gorgeous bird, I hope to see them again.

Is it predatory? In number 2, I can see a look that suggests that the hunt is on.

Beautiful light, wonderful shots!
Besides we have here (pics #2 and 3) fantastic cameleon! : )
And looking at the top photo and the lovely little head I've realized how small is the bird!

Thank you, Viv. I was very excited to see them.

Taniwha - no, I don't think they are predatory. Wikipedia says: "Their diet consists mainly of acorns (oak seeds) and pine nuts, extensively supplemented by invertebrates and their larvae, soft fruits and berries, and also human-provided scraps in parks and towns." This was in a resort town, so I suspect the hunt was for scraps, mostly. :)

Shitake - Thank you! They are certainly smaller than the magpies I'm more used to, the Eurasian ones. That is a pine nut the bird is holding there, btw.
