This is the Camellia mentioned in the Lilac post thread that grows against the fence at the bottom of the garden. It has been flowering for weeks but then lots of things have, maybe it's the appalling weather..

It was a present to Sugar one Mother's day and it starts flowering in March.

It has been observed by a number of people I know, mainly women, that flowers in general this year where they haven't been battered to bits by the weather have had a longer flowering season. It's certainly true of the bluebells, primroses, violets and other wild flowers. We had a hot and dry March followed by a wet and shite April, so maybe that has had something to do with it.
