I am increasingly interested in how people and plants interact in the city. I am looking for clues, for an understanding, for a translation.

Do you have things like our Cities/towns/villages in bloom competitions?

W, nothing better than a long lasting plastic calla lily.

V, nothing like in the UK at all. Maybe garden tours, but no competitions, that I know of.

They used to have "secret garden" days on Newport when we lived there, where people would open up their gardens to visitors but not all at once. I think it was for charity mostly. You would buy a map of the route around town to the various places and that would be your admission to go looking around. I'm sorry to say we always missed them as they were somewhat secretly advertised and we never knew about them until it was too late. Is there anything like that in Toronto?
