Lake or Pond?

I just can't decide. It's too big to be a pond, but too small to be a lake. Is there something in between? A 'poke'? A 'land' would just be oxymoronic.

Well, the ducks don't care.

it's a lake! ponds are just glorified puddles and it's way too big to be one of those!

If it's a lake, it's a little one.

Does it have a local name?

Wendle says:

Rhys, your question prompted me to do a little research. Although there is no local name, the Nottingham City Council did have this to say:

The pond area backs on Basford Library and is very popular with anglers, walkers and wildlife watchers. Recently the pond has had considerable investment with new fishing platforms, boardwalk, platform for teaching angling, and works to reinforce the banks. There are more proposals planned for the pond which include; additional planting, water feature and interpretation.

Debate over. Pond it is, apparently.
