As a teenager I knew everything....I'm still trying to figure out when I forgot it all.
Thank you, it is a beautiful country despite the quake damage, the juxtaposition of this amazing scenery next to to devastation of peoples homes and lives made it even more striking.
How extensive is the damage? It's mostly localised to Christchurch, isn't it? Is it inner city or out in the suburbs too?
It is everywhere and it is extensive!
The CBD (city centre) is still cordoned off and inaccessible with buildings visibly leaning awaiting deconstruction rubble piled everywhere broken glass and detritus still littering every corner,
Every street in every suburb in the east of the city has damage, Houses, roads, businesses, felled trees, burst water mains munted sewerage pipes, collapsed river banks, subsidence is wide spread, and as you head further out into the port hills, in Sumner and Redcliffs, closer to Lyttleton and the epicentre you have to contend with all this and the added devastation rock falls and land slides.
I have some images I'll post shortly,
