This is my personal blog, not a venue for saleable images. In fact, because it's here that I share things that are important to me with the members of the moblog community, photo quality's not my priority. Events, occasions, achievements, thoughts, trips and experiments - you'll find them all here. Contact me for the development version of my photo portfolio, for a selection of saleable images or visit my dance photography blog or my website for cuttings. And remember that all photos remain my copyright unless I've specifically said otherwise.

Love these! And free tea, no matter how elusive, is a good thought to have. Hope you had a good brew when you got home :)
you seem to have perfected your skills at boke, blocky, bocce, blokey . . . (?)
Spiderbaby - true
bokeh... and thank you Sprocket. Am now taking both bokeh and normal shots for pretty much everything. I like the cartoony-unreal effect of good bokeh, Dance Today loves it and I sell loads to them but the photolibrary knocks it back so they're getting the other sort.
:)
thank you
the gentleman in this shot is the one who was in the winning CityClickers image - the one where they were dancing tango in the rain while sharing an umbrella. I gave him a copy of that and although our paths don't often cross, he has been a willing model ever since when they do
Bokeh can be sooo gorgeous. Like here :)
Free teeeeeea? I wouldn't have be able to start shooting until i had found the tea!
I felt like that... but the trouble with doing Big Dance for work was trying to fit as much as possible in!
Hi there
and thank you everyone :D
Bokeh is the other bit when you play photographic games with your depth of field (DoF or doF). You know when one part of the image is clear and in focus and the rest isn't, or is less so? the less focussed part is the bokeh http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/bokeh.htm. However people seem to use 'bokeh' and 'doF' interchangeably
I should add that you should be able to get the same background effect with gaussian blur on photoshop, but AFAIC it makes commercial common sense to minimise the post-processing work you need to do on your images
Oh, I see! Yeah, it does appear that the good bokeh has a lot to do with why these are such good pictures :)
