RIP Dear Little Friend

Our bad kitten is dead. Impossible to believe that a creature so full of life has gone. He was struck by a car at lunchtime and died instantly.

This photo was taken last weekend when the Divine Daughter was packing for the Y7 school journey to Germany. She is due back tonight and we will have to tell her what has happened.

The Supreme Dalek was his Moblog name, his real name was Bootsy because he had 4 white boots and because we like the Bassist Bootsy Collins. He was the naughtiest cat I have ever known and he answered back. He had no need to be anywhere near the main road but he was so intrepid, so adventurous he would go anywhere. He would go in and out of neighbours windows, taunt their dogs, swing from the bird feeders and kill the birds.

But indoors Bootsy was the most lovingest creature imaginable. We cuddled him like a baby and he would purr and purr. He slept on the beds with us every night and was always ready for a bit of a chat if anyone had trouble sleeping. He will be so missed...

One consolation at the moment is that he was loved and wanted every second of his short life, not all cats are.... We don't believe in an afterlife for animals or people so no talk of the Rainbow Bridge please and please no one tell us it's our fault for letting him roam. Guilt and mourning go hand in hand...

And family members, please no phone calls today. Neither of us can speak today.

I am so sorry, I loved looking at his latest exploits, he certainly burned brightly in his short life. I can only imagine how much you will miss him and how sad you must feel, you are in my thoughts. He was one in a million and we were all lucky to have shared, even in a small way, in his lovely life :(

Thank you all, so much. He would have been 7 months old today, this has been a nightmare. Poor old BS took it hardest of all, most unexpected as he had never before had the slightest interest in cats.

We took DD to say good bye to Bootsy this morning, he is being stored by our vet pending cremation. On the way out we saw one of those *Good homes needed...* posters and now we have a dear little ball of orphaned black and white fluff. We were all in tears bringing her home, much too soon I'm sure but she's not a replacement for Bootsy, no cat could ever replace him and this one is nothing like him at all, no trace of Bengal in this little sweetheart. I'll post some photos soon.

My cat before Bootsy died just short of his sixth birthday after a long illness and I was heartbroken because he was so young and it took me 12 years before I felt able to get another.... Only for this to happen : ( I've never had a cat killed on the road before, it is unbelievably awful. And ironic when you think all of my other cats lived in London. But here where the roads are quiet everyone goes much faster...

The new kitten who we have named Fable Fairy Tail (really) is helping us a great deal although she is most definitely not a replacement for Bootsy.

Not a replacement just a new addition to the family. I had a cat killed outside my front door and I will never forget it, you have my sympathy, it is heart breaking. Welcome FFT to the Moblog family, I await your full introduction :)
