A few of my local visitors.

A Northern Flicker! I am so jealous. There's a pair in the neighbourhood, but I've never been able to get decent shots. They are past shy. I love woodpeckers. I have Hairy & Downys on the deck all the time, but they are my only regulars.

Beautiful shots.

Katbird says:

Thanks Caine. The red-shafteds are all over the place here. We had one beating a tattoo on our chimney every morning this past spring.

Looks like I got all my woodpeckers up this time. I'll go through some of my older photos to see what else I can find. I have some European bird photos, too.

Caine says:

Cool, I look forward to them. I have no idea why our flickers are so shy. Perhaps I need more woodpecker enticements...

They really love that suet log. I can't keep it filled.

I was checking that out. I don't think I've seen anything like that here, I'll do some online shopping for one or three. My guys love the suet (as if there's a woodpecker that doesn't) but that log looks fantastic.

Katbird says:

I got it from a local store, but you could make one with a branch, an eye-screw and a hole saw. Then you just have to find an online place that sells the suet plugs.

Slightly jealous seeing as all I see from my office window is a brick wall!

Wonderful set. Making a suet log looks like an interesting project. A suet plug cutter shouldn't be too hard either.
