Oooh! It's time to play "Which books do I own as well?" with this picture!

alexis says:

Oh! I've got that arsey one with the baby on the front.

had to buy it for a class. we didn't even use it. almost worthless, as it has all the same info as another book ive got, but in a more annoing, graphic way. I think I'm just too used to textbooks being packed with info/ no pictures.

I was given that one by the publishers, when I attended an interview with them. They've done very well out of that series. It's very basic.

I had some more of their books, but I must have given them away. They've revived that series where you can chose which way to take the story (turn to page blah, blah if you want to do this or turn to page something-or-other if you want to go there...)

Choose Your Own Adventure!

alexis says:

crazy. I remember choose-your-own-adventure books well enough.

yeah, i see why the series is a good thing. there were some kids in my linguistics class who probably made good use of it.

Helen says:

Yes, those ones. Another big success.

Helen says:

They're a bit like York Notes, except for big concepts.

I rather like that graphic intro series -- I used them with some of my students when I was teaching high school. The one on Foucault is particularly good.

Hmm, wonder how many of those I'll own over the next three years!
(got confirmation from both UCAS and the Uni - yippee!)

Helen says:

Hurrah : ) When do you start?

7th Sep 2005, 18:52

Gael says:

As far as I know, 6/10 - but possibly the dubious delight of Freshers Week for a few days before - anyone for cheap, watery beer?
Just told the girls I'd be Boarding (they've sent me accomodation forms) they didn't seem to realise it was a joke (it's nice to be loved)

Helen says:

Aww, that's the sort of thing that scars you for life!

7th Sep 2005, 18:55

Gael says:

Just checked out the SU website, the highlight of Freshers week is a Skool Disco with DJ Sammy headlining. Think I'll be giving that one a miss : )

7th Sep 2005, 20:15

Helen says:

Sounds fantastic. You can't miss that. There might be boys there(!!!)

kostika says:

I don't think I have any of those books. Hmmm...I think I need t buy more books.

Careful, it's a slippery slope.
