Went to see Bran Neu Dae yesterday- a movie adaptation of the play.
Beautiful, fun, shows off Broome and the wonderful colours.

Hey JE, good to see your back from the Christmas break.

Things are a lot different at Derby atm. With its second cyclone passing near by, it will be very green.

Must see that film, maybe next week:)

JEsson says:

Heard about the cyclone- hope all is OK for you. It must be the most wonderful sight to have green against the pindan in summer. Lucky you!

And don't miss out on seeing the movie- its a lovely story- bit of good fun. :-)

officially the world's longest water trough?

cyclones sound a bit dramatic!

Jesson says:

So I'm told- it's the longest water trough. It was used when large numbers of cattle were moved from inland to the coast for transporting by ship.

The last cyclone near Broome a couple of weeks ago had winds of over 200km/hr. Cyclones are a big and destructive deal up north. Towns have been flattened in the past.

we suffered 100mph winds years ago when I lived in Norfolk - our chicken shed ended up 2 fields away

not a nice experience

Jesson says:

Viv- cyclones are the one thing I don't ever look forward to experiencing if I ever get to Broome for a wet season. The bushfires in Sydney scare me enough thanks!

Sorry to hear about your chook shed though- lucky you brought the washing in before it blew away and told the neighbours more about yourself than you'd like. ;-)

Jesson says:

The movie was great- so nice to see real issues being presented without being miserable about it. Apparently the boys who sang in the church scene 'I want to be an Ab-or-ig-in-ee' only learnt the song that morning and only got a rough choreography for it that day- not bad for a bunch of boys who've never acted before eh!
