I've just come in from filling up the birdfeeders. Maybe I should be putting out hot water bottles too!

Sadly it didn't help. He was terribly thin - can't have been able to feed properly for a while, when I found him his tail was buried in the snow. The hotter was a temporary measure while I went to find a more secure box so I could bring him inside safe from Oscar. Unfortunately, he succumbed in that brief time. At least he went out warm & with a bit of seed to hand, poor chap. Have more than quadrupled the normal seed ration (a full day's supply went in 2 hours this morning) & increased the suet balls. Hope not to find any more frozen wildlife, though have great concern for Car Park Cat, who I haven't see in two days, not even when I rattle a food tin. :(

He was a hopeless case - icy & unresponsive when I picked him up but the kettle had just boiled & I couldn't leave him to die part-buried in the snow. This was my quickest hope for warming him. (I added some cold water to the boiling, before anyone frets that I sent him off with burnt feet.)

Oh dear. You did what you could. Hopefully Car Park cat has found somewhere warm to hole up for a few days and will be back soon.
