*Yellow, mellow, ripened days,
Sheltered in a golden coating;
O'er the dreamy, listless haze,
White and dainty cloudlets floating;
Winking at the blushing trees,
And the sombre, furrowed fallow;
Smiling at the airy ease,
Of the southward flying swallow
Sweet and smiling are thy ways,
Beauteous, golden Autumn days.*

Will Carleton
Autumn Days.

These were all taken just outside the door. The red leaves are part of the stag horn tree and the golden crab apple is in front of my scary hot neighbour's house. I sneaked over there while he was away just in case he's one of those country boys who like to shoot....We have several crab apple trees around us but this golden one is my favourite. The rose doesn't know that its house has been empty since last December when the owner died. It bloomed all summer and it looks like it's going to bloom all winter too.

Beautiful images to be found just outside the door.
Lovely poem too - haven't come across him before, although it sounds vaguely familiar so maybe I've come across it somewhere in the dim and distant past.

When that happens to me cariadus it usually turns out to be from primary school. When I was about 7 (in the juniours as it used to be called) I had a very good teacher called Miss Young who would make anyone love poetry.
