My parents came to visit yesterday. Last time they were here they moaned about the fact that i didn't have any biscuits, so this time i made a cake.
The facts: It is vegan. It contains vanilla essence, currants and tangerine cordial. It is tasty.
The fiction: It is the best cake i have ever made.

I think i'll make another one soon.

(I've just realised this makes 3 posts in a row that are food related. I like food.)

Edit: It would also seem that licking the cakes i make is a common occurance: I don't know why.

I made scones with courgettes yesterday! There was a bit of butter in it, but no other animal products. I am going to try them again for my nephew with soya marg instead.

Ooooh, they sound niiiiice! I've never tried scones with savoury things in before...

FilbertFox says:

there was nothing savoury about them. In the same way that carrotes don't make carrot cake savoury.

Ooh, looks good. It sounds like the recipe is worth perfecting.

Wendle says:

FF, carrots get far too sweet & unsavoury. Particularly when roasted. One can definitely over roast a carrot.

Geodyne, i reckon the recipe is pretty perfect. I just buggered it up by adding extra cordial! D'oh.

FilbertFox says:

but it is that sweetness that makes them so good in baking and puddings, but it can make them too sickly for savoury dishes
