MaggieD says:

Oh wow, that is just ace .... where did you park the truck, and how many miles did you cycle there and back ?

3rd Aug 2009, 20:23

JokerXL says:

Parked in the port, next to tonight's boat.
Nobody dun told me it was only just down the road!
About half an hour.
I cycled right out to the ones with heir feet in the sea (tide was all the way out) followed by a big yellow Landrover with some worried beach-guards in it.

MaggieD says:

Well I am impressed, OK, not much cycling, but the best use of camera and PSing? .....

540air says:

That's super cool, nice job dude!! :)

swamprose says:

you can't just lean your bike up on Art, can you?

3rd Aug 2009, 22:30

540air says:

Yeah, course you can, makes it "working art" :)

3rd Aug 2009, 22:40

beth says:

hmm is it leaned up ? perspective is suggesting to me that it's not. Unless that bike is massive or the angle is making it look massive, because those sculptures are man size - Gormley size even.

cariadus says:

Yes, I was wondering about that too.
Anyway, fantastic photo.
So next time you visit us you're going to cycle up some nice hills in Barry are you? :)

those orange wheel reflectors? they're illegal in England they are! (I'd LOVE to see someone arrested for it though!) Bet your brakes are opposite too. Bloody Europeans.

Viv says:

I told you it was just down the road :) !!!!!!!!!

Glad you made it - did wonder if you ever put your bike in the truck

And Swamprose - sure that they have had many experiences including regularly being p***** on - dogs are allowed on that beach, limpets nestle wherever, they are decorated

4th Aug 2009, 01:37

JokerXL says:

Yes you did tell me that Viv, I just don't trust it when people say "just down the road", very subjective measurement that.
;-)

How can anything so innocent (and effective) be "illegal" Hobo? In Holland they're compulsory, if you don't have a reflective stripe all the way around the tyre. And yes, our brakes are on the right (?) where they belong!

I shall NOT be cycling up your road Cariadus, down it, maybe, once, but never up.

It is indeed leaning up against the statue, there were no lamp-posts and I don't have a side-stand, what can you do?? The wide angle lens makes it look a little odd in perspective and this particular example of Gormley's physique was up to it's knees in sand.

4th Aug 2009, 20:37

540air says:

hobo - they're illegal? What on earth for, or is that one for the health and safety nazis? :)

JXL - You mean your back brake is on the right and front on the left? Good man!! :)

5th Aug 2009, 11:06

JokerXL says:

My back brake is on the front and the front brake on the back 540.

6th Aug 2009, 21:04

they're orange. English ones are white. It's not illegal to ride with them, but it's illegal to sell a new bike with them on, they have to be replaced with white ones. While I agree with any and everything which aids the visibility and safety of cyclists, I hate it being legislated about. Cyclists are reasonable people; no-one ever started a war from the back of a bike.
