This is my old 15 year-old Fiesta.
Had it for six years, never, ever had a problem with it, never let me down.

I've bought a new car.
It'll arrive in three weeks.

"Christine" (as she is now known) all but conked-out on me 500meters from home last night and refused to start this morning.

They know, they feel, they don't want to be scrapped.

Indeed they know - which is why I take such care with naming mine. Had an old 94 Honda Civic, 250K miles on it, no real problems until I realized it had no name. Being unable to determine if it was male or female, I dubbed it Tranny. Tranny broke for good about a week later.

I always used to find gentle words of persausion, or a quick kiss of the steering wheel worked for my cars, but yes, they do know bless'em.
