This is my personal blog, not a venue for saleable images. In fact, because it's here that I share things that are important to me with the members of the moblog community, photo quality's not my priority. Events, occasions, achievements, thoughts, trips and experiments - you'll find them all here. Contact me for the development version of my photo portfolio, for a selection of saleable images or visit my dance photography blog or my website for cuttings. And remember that all photos remain my copyright unless I've specifically said otherwise.

........ Rebecca Solnit

"Give, give, give -- what is the point of having experience, knowledge or talent if I don't give it away? Of having stories if I don't tell them to others? Of having wealth if I don't share it? I don't intend to be cremated with any of it! It is in giving that I connect with others, with the world and with the divine."

"The grand show is enternal. It is always sunrise somewhere; the dew is never dried all at once; a shower is forever falling; vapour is ever rising. Eternal sunrise, eternal dawn and gloaming, on sea and continents and islands, each in its turn, as the round earth rolls."
........ John Muir

"The bicycle is the most civilised conveyance known to man. Other forms of transport grow daily more nightmarish. Only the bicycle remains pure in heart."
........ Iris Murdoch

"Photography for me is not looking, it's feeling. If you can't feel what you're looking at, then you're never going to get others to feel anything when they look at your picture...."

I've taken photos of the sky
and the walls
and the floor
I've taken photos of my flowers
and the dust on the window
Of the insects on the window
Of the clouds
Of the sky
Of the textures of the chairs
Of the doors
Of the furniture
Of the handles and the wires and the grapes
Of the pillows and the sheets and the laptop
Of my books and my notes and my shoes
I've washed my hair twice although I probably shouldn't

and it's still not evening

(response to Sprocket - this *is* a flower-free ward. But the friend who brought them in was on crutches and is very accustomed to dealing with these guys through far too much experience of her own. While it was a lovely thought I'd personally much prefer to get these or anything else at home where I'll enjoy them for longer and they won't remind me of an unpleasant experience)

Wendle says:

Have you taken photos of... ...nope, i can't think of anything else. You're nothing if not thorough!

Sprocket says:

JokerXL says:

Still having fun then!

(my brain's been pink sludge since as far back as I can remember. Yesterday even)

10th May 2009, 17:46

having fun... yes....

Sprocket - don't you dare. My assignment is to get the hell out of here

Wendle - I'm sure I'll find more stuff to take tomorrow but my arm doesn't like being used that much at the moment and I've been forced to go back to working and reading

.. did I say I've been taking lots of shots of the sky?

10th May 2009, 17:49

JokerXL says:

Nice sky-shot!

10th May 2009, 18:07

what is pasatiempo?

10th May 2009, 20:20

Sprocket says:

Paintist - I think "pasatiempo" is a made-up word

10th May 2009, 20:23

paintist says:

I googled and it looks like a golf course or a nice Hotel in Santa Fe......

10th May 2009, 20:27

It's a Spanish word game
pasatiempo means hobby or pastime, a play on the words pasar (to happen, pass or occur) and tiempo (time or weather). I was passing time with my hobby

Kostika says:

You should take covert pictures of the nurses.

11th May 2009, 01:56

Spiderbaby says:

At least the sky is always changing. You'll be out of there soon :)

11th May 2009, 02:44

thanks George I will - although at the moment I'm not really able to use that arm much at all. The drains are perfectly placed so as to hit a nerve (excruciatingly) if I do anything much - even basic movements

Kostika - maybe, but I'm not really into that kind of thing

Spiderbaby, Viv - I know (grr...)
