A Little English A Little French
I'm not a big fan of boring curtains that do nothing more than block sunlight from streaming happiness and cheer into my home. However when We found these spectacular antique French aubosson tapestries with a large gilt cornice awhile ago and put them aside for a specific spot in our old farmhouse I knew these were far from boring. In fact they are over 150 years old and one of a kind, just the way The Paris House likes it! They were lying bunched up and nearly forgotten about when all of a sudden had I had an idea and jumped up out of bed and ran down in our dining/billiard room to look at the french doors that open onto our wrap around porch. I went and got the aubosson tapestries and held them up framing the french doors. They are perfect for this 200 year old room. This room has 2 foot thick stone walls with gorgeous beamed ceilings and a lovely mix of antiques and chic pieces of furniture complete with a french billiard table and lovely antique chandeliers from Venice Italy and a manor house outside of Paris France. Now we are designing how the other two windows in the room will look, being careful to blend but not compete with this unique window treatment. The walls are covered with silk chinoiserie fabric that was handpainted in China that took two years to complete the murals. Our two hundred year old farmhouse is a labor of love and I know it will never be finished thats would I love about it.
