I couldn't resist this .. sorry .. more will follow

Earlier today (while preparing for the series of shots that will follow) the gentleman sitting at the table next to me said that seeing eggs in a basket like this reminded him of home (Algeria).

He wasn't comfortable with a conventional portrait but was quite happy for me to shoot his hand.

Carlos Orduna(carlos-at-orduna-dot-dk) says:

Well, eggs in a basket are a familiar home picture for many, but i think only if they are brown. White ones represent mass production, don't they....funny isn't it?

Lyzardly says:

By chance did you ask about the scrape on his knuckle? I find myself wondering how he managed to scrape his knuckle without damaging his ring.

I am looking forward to the rest of the series.

free range eggs just taste so much better

Lyzardly says:

Fresh, local eggs simply cannot be compared to the orbs that pass as eggs on grocery store shelves. But I believe that is the case for pretty much everything.

I'm so glad to have finally convinced my husband that we need to buy a share in a Community Supported Garden for the summer. I can barely wait for the season to start - we pick up our first share of produce May 19th! :)

Martin Walters (Martin_Walters_uk-at-hotmail-dot-com) says:

There is somthing very symbolic about this shot. The hand holding the egg the most basic of foods yet so basic in nature and the ingredients of so much we consume from cakes to Pasta. The egg is the sheild for fragile life. The hand can either care for life or break the egg.

Caine says:

Fantastic shot. We do local eggs whenever we can, which is most of the time. They tend to be white, not brown. Not that it makes a difference to me.

thank you Carlos, morningbear, Lyzardly, Martin and Caine
An unanticipated benefit to me of this blog is that it's becoming an interesting exercise in self discipline... I had no idea how difficult it would be to keep quiet and really let the images speak!
