Erm, no. . . .
. . not at all.
Somewhere behind Albania, truth be told.

But I still hold my British (English) passport (for my sins)

Well that was a cracking game too - especially combined with last week's rout

I was working at the Stadium last night, and there was an amazing atmopshere (apart from the 3 Irish fans that I saw get kicked out - they weren't best pleased). I didn't get to see much of it, but from the highlights it looked like an amazing match.

Cardiff city centre was overun last night, I struggled walking home it was that busy.

Rhys, so near and yet so far! It was a classic match. Was the vibe good natured between the Welsh and Irish fans last night?

I've watched the whole match on iPlayer now, and yes, very good match.

On the whole yes (what I witnessed at least, with the exception of the 3 I got kicked out from the stadium), just friendly banter really. I've never seen so many police so maybe that was a factor, but I bet there was some sore Irish heads in the morning given the partying!

Do you reckon Warren Gatlin was just playing psychological games when he said the Welsh hate the Irish above all of their 6 Nations opponents?

24th Mar 2009, 07:28

rhys says:

I wasn't aware of his comments in that respect, but I wouldn't of thought there was that much hate behind the comment. Just a bit of rivalry given it was the deciding match and Gatlin knowing the Irish were on top form, perhaps?
Not as much as the recent football incident of Wayne Rooney saying he "hates" Liverpool FC, anyhow.

Most other Welsh people I know prefer to beat the English over any other nation!

arkangel says:

I'm assuming from your name that you're Welsh yourself - how would you characterise the Welsh perception of the Irish? (people not rugby team!)

24th Mar 2009, 09:25

rhys says:

My Father and his side of the family are Welsh, but I was born in England, now living in Cardiff.

It's not something I've really thought of or heard people talking about, so can’t really say. Not something that really gets discussed until sporting events, such as the six nations.

I would say, however, perceptions of the Irish are held higher than that of the English!
