Stopped Clocks is a public collaborative project which exists to first document all the stopped clocks in the UK, with the aim being to restore those we can to working order.

Anyone can help, so please send us any information on stopped clocks in your area and by all means post here at the blog.

Hi,

I have just seen you segment on the One Show,and was thrilled to find an organisation that shared some of my views.

For the past year i have been making small steps to try and get information on civic clocks in my local area of Stratford-Upon-Avon.

I have discovered that there are three clocks in the town, all of which keep time, however, they no longer appear to chime.

Has anybody got any advice on the best way to get the local council or other local bodies to begin costing or indeed taking some action to repair these clocks.

In addition to any help Alfie can give, there's a pretty goshdarned active Civic Society in Stratford. They at least used to meet in the Falcon Hotel on Church St, you can probably find contact details on the web - what I've got must be out of date by now - or get a contact number from the pub.

The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust http://www.shakespeare.org.uk/index.php also campaign hard on built environment issues in Stratford.

They know loads about local bureaucracy & even if they don't want to work on the issue as organisations, going along to a meeting or two might give you useful info on where to start, which Cuncillors might be sympathetic etc...
