FilbertFox says:

i slipped in a non existent puddle and tore my hamstring. The higher up bruising is beginning to fade now, but the ones round my knee are still coming out and are aching somewhat. The injury is just over a week old now, and just starting to improve.

I can't sit on the loo.........

19th Oct 2008, 12:06

FilbertFox says:

Rest!!!! At this time of year? Are you mad?

I have had to keep on working with unpaid overtime.

It is feeling a bit better today.

Worked out approx 70% of my entire right leg has been bruised. I do not recommend a torn hamstring.

19th Oct 2008, 12:49

Helen says:

Bloody 'ell, and there I was feeling sorry for myself because I bruised both my knees after a tumble in front of the city gallery.

It's obviously not safe to walk around Leeds.

Take care, you, you hear?

19th Oct 2008, 13:14

Spiderbaby says:

Oh my! That's really quite something! It's a pity a certain A.K. isn't still in charge of accidents and the like. This is exactly the kind of thing he would mass email to everyone in the department as a 'warning' ...

19th Oct 2008, 17:42

FilbertFox says:

Ironically, I managed to work all of last week because BB could give me a lift in. Next week he will be in London as usual, and i can neither cycle nor catch the bus, so i will have to take time off sick.

19th Oct 2008, 17:53

Spiderbaby says:

Good. Better late than never!

Geodyne says:

Ow ow ow!!! You poor babe!

You need to be smothered with hugs and kisses (not on the leg, obviously), and plied with pain killers and lots and lots of yummy food.

20th Oct 2008, 14:44

Big Sis says:

I must say Sis I don't think I've ever seen just a bad bruise. You really should keep off the Gin!!!!!

Where was the non existant puddle?

Does Mum know?

Hope it gets better soon
LOL xx

21st Oct 2008, 13:06

21st Oct 2008, 22:21

it's just any old excuse to flash some skin. and if you have drugs that can help with that pain, i'd like some, please!

21st Oct 2008, 23:07

FilbertFox says:

Mr Hobo Sir - declofenac is pretty good - but i can only take em every other day or so. Most of the time it is ok, but sitting is still very painful. So i am lying down a lot. I am BORED

I worked all of last week, but have had to take time off this week cos i can't get on the bus!

22nd Oct 2008, 10:09

i don't get on with diclofenac, it upsets my stomach. tramadol however makes me a lovely, if dim-witted, person. i wish your leg a full and speedy recovery. x

22nd Oct 2008, 22:42

FilbertFox says:

so you are permanently on tramadol then?

23rd Oct 2008, 07:43

Viv says:

:) not blunted your wit I see

hope the enforced rest is beneficial

24th Oct 2008, 01:21

OMG FF you really don't do things by halves.
What a thing to have happen - and at this time of the year too :(
get better soon. Here's hoping the boredom's also relieved

24th Oct 2008, 12:57

FilbertFox says:

i managed to get to work today, but the sitting is so painful, today it is making me tearful. This is my busiest time at work

24th Oct 2008, 17:43

24th Oct 2008, 18:17

MaggieD says:

So sorry to hear things are still so very painful ... and can appreciate this is one of the busiest times of the academic year .... and no half term or reading week for science students :(

.... hope you have managed a relaxing weekend .... keep taking the drugs and remember, your health comes first! ..... there are others that can teach and tease the students (OK, not with your style or panache) but please, please make sure you give yourself sufficient recovery time before launching yourself full on back into the fray ...

26th Oct 2008, 19:40

Essitam says:

Dear god woman! That looks painful!

26th Oct 2008, 19:44

FilbertFox says:

Thank you Maggie - my new practical has just finished, the week following my fall which i managed to do, and the week after that which i couldn't get in for. The next couple of weeks isn't so busy, but then i launch into my major practical, with 3 10-12 hour days on the trot! Those days the students are with us from 10 til 5 and even I find that a lot of talking...

I have now perfected the bandaging - a very sexy look, and the long suffering BB has perfected the total leg massager...say no more.....

26th Oct 2008, 20:03

MaggieD says:

Well, please do take advantage of the next few 'unbusy weeks' and make sure you use them to gear yourself up for the mayhem ahead (i.e. take that time to rest and recuperate) ....
