My not so clean and slightly broke bike next to a shiny new one. My crank arm was knackered, but we have a temporary fix in the shape of a new arm, rethreading the spindle, a torque wrench and a lot of something that I think was called threadlock or bolt.

I rode it home cautiously and all seemed ok, but if I can make it work til Friday I'll be happy as they can have it for a fortnight as I'll be off work.

they shouldn't need a fortnight, nor should you have a knackered crank arm this soon into the game. the bike wasn't set up proper. If your crank arm is that damaged, your bottom bracket's fucked too (technical term), and they're all under warranty so should be replaced, not repaired, free of charge, and soon as possible! We give all our new bikes a free check over after a couple of months, to adjust for cable stretch, and check the bottom bracket and headset for any looseness.
