On the way out of Manchester yesterday afternoon, it was a big multi-use industrial building that housed a car & van hire company, wooden pallet storage & heaven knows what else. We went to have a look because it's really close to a UNESCO World Heritage site & seen from the main road, that could have been the source of the fire. We timed things just right. Turns out the police, who were arriving in numbers as we left, evacuated hundreds of people & were closing the roads round the estate behind us.

Caine - pretty much everything in there is gone, a fair bit of the roof collapsed, gas tanks blew, vehicles burnt out... no reports of injuries/ fatalities but that's luck not good judgement. The brigade found the tanks & started yelling so we took off but we were heading against a tide of loons who seemed to imagine that an exploding LPG tank would be a spiffing thing to be near. Would have been a good shot - apparently the fireball went over 90 feet in the air but by then we were (safely) miles away.

Holy cow! I'm glad you (and everyone else) is safe.

That last shot is when the roof collapsed. You can see how far away I was but it was uncomfortably warm - at this point the whole side of the building was pumping out heat like a giant stove.
