A group distraction, presented by nige.

The first instalment of Interview52 is now complete! It started on Friday 18th July 2008 and finished on 13th September 2009. A little later than expected, but we got there.

52 mobloggers from around the world...

Some familiar, some not...

Each will publish a unique self-portrait, accompanied by a short interview.

Candid portrait meets candid interview.

The Rules

Every Friday the next interviewee in line will publish a new portrait and interview, consisting of their answers to the ten questions they have been given.

After they have published, the interviewee will then become the interviewer. They will be responsible for finding the next participant, as well as compiling the questions that this next person in line will answer. Interviewers can change as many or as few questions as they like, but they should change at least one before passing them on to the next lucky punter.

Thats it! Simple. More detailed instructions will be given to each interviewee as and when they are approached, so fear not.

New Group Project! Interview52:

Now we can create our own groups I thought I'd get the ball rolling with an idea i've had for a little while. Just a little fun side project for those interested.

The concept is pretty self explanatory through the sidebar, but if you are interested and have any questions, do throw them at me here. I'll answer what I can, but much like the dailyme project, it will probably formulate itself as things move forward.

The project aim is to collect 52 mobloggers (hopefully at least that many will be interested, otherwise...) willing to share themselves through a self-portrait and a 5-question interview. They will be a mixture of people who will join of their own accord, and others that I will approach directly (my intention is to approach mobloggers who post / comment less frequently and perhaps won't see this message).

The self-portrait need not be a headshot, or even include part of your body, but it must be personal and reveal something about you (i've seen portraits of shoes, contents of handbags etc. so you can be as creative as you like)

The interview will not be deeply personal, but its intention is to reveal something about you that others may not already know. I'll likely send out 10 questions and you can pick the 5 you are most comfortable answering. The questions will not be the same for every moblogger, but there will naturally be some overlapping from week to week. I'd love to receive suggestions to add to the question bank.

Should you choose to be a part of this caper, I will (at some point) mail you a date for your Friday slot. A week before the slot I will mail you the questions, so you will have plenty of time to get everything sorted.

I'll add to this section should any questions arise.

Join the Group! We start next Friday 18th July with our first mystery guest.

Video interview?

10th Jul 2008, 23:39

nige says:

that would be a great idea! maybe we could incorporate it, or perhaps a whole 'nother project of it's own. i like that idea.

10th Jul 2008, 23:40

Puddlepuff says:

You could even set up a connection between 2 web cams and ask the questions in person :)

Late Night with Nige

and off to bed.

10th Jul 2008, 23:43

nige says:

hahaha! oh man, don't get me started...

10th Jul 2008, 23:48

Puddlepuff says:

Anyway if your going to have a video interview, add one extra question, the last one.

"How do you pronounce Moblog"

Still haven't figured that out. :)

10th Jul 2008, 23:52

nige says:

funny you should mention that. check out this string on alfie's blog:

10th Jul 2008, 23:56

Puddlepuff says:

I know, and I am still clueless......

We should open a group blog to finally resolve this, upload your moblog pronunciation. We all vote and that is it!

10th Jul 2008, 23:58

nige says:

do it do it!

11th Jul 2008, 00:21

Puddlepuff says:

Ahw CRAP!! They took down the ability to vote with Moblog 2,.... and it would finally have been useful.

11th Jul 2008, 00:26

Puddlepuff says:

Dude, take it away!

11th Jul 2008, 01:36

OJ says:

People have probably seen enough of me but I'd be up for it in a little while, if you want.

Bit busy now but mid-August onwards would be good.

Are you going to do a call for intrusive/revealing/quirky questions?

11th Jul 2008, 18:09

nige says:

definitely OJ. i'll pen you in for some way down the line.

you're the journo, so yes, intrusive/revealing/quirky questions would be rather welcome. my preference would be to ask questions that may be a bit uncomfortable and telling, but i thought that may be a bit prohibitive to people joining the group. i guess it could be tailored for each participant though.

11th Jul 2008, 18:27

OJ says:

I didn't mean that you should get me to suggest questions particularly. Could you make it part of the project to get group members to suggest questions?

I've developed a strange addiction to a Facebook app called "10 second interview" this last week or so....and that has some truly odd questions that other punters have chucked in. They're quite geared towards short and snappy answers (and sarcasm in my case) rather than long or revealing ones though.

11th Jul 2008, 18:33

nige says:

oh, sorry, i see what you mean. actually, one of the things i thought of initially was to get the moblogger of the given week to suggest a mandatory question for the next in line to answer. more involvement would be better though, i think. it would be great for people to suggest questions, absolutely.

i know the app you're talking about actually. i stumbled on it on my sisters profile quite recently and found something out about her (and me) that i never knew. it made me smile :)

11th Jul 2008, 18:41

i'm in. whenever.

11th Jul 2008, 18:41

OJ says:

I have a habit of deflecting the question back at the interviewer, mostly sarcastically.

Clearly, there are sincerity issues. But I'm intrigued now by the revelation!

11th Jul 2008, 18:44

nige says:

nice one 'hobo!

answering a question with another question. i'm familiar with that practice, OJ :)

the revelation as in what i found out on my sisters page? i think the question was something along the lines of "who do you confide in when you feel low and need a sympathetic ear?". i was the answer :)

11th Jul 2008, 18:54

OJ says:

Aw how sweet. :)

11th Jul 2008, 19:00

Tori says:

You and your crazy schemes.

11th Jul 2008, 19:29

nige says:

coming for the ride?

11th Jul 2008, 19:31

Essitam says:

I'll come and play! :)

11th Jul 2008, 22:25

Tori says:

Nah, people must be sick of me by now.

Maybe one of my family members will be game.

12th Jul 2008, 00:30

tmk says:

I'm here ;)

15th Jul 2008, 10:23

Yes I'll join in Nige. Here's my answers:
Six on a good day.
