search page and latestimage links are going to be a cow though... plus I need to finish tags off...

YAY. : )
(I can actually read a few of those, even in negative.)
(and, odd paper.)

That's turned over and written on the back of recycled paper. There's a 40cm high stack of the stuff in the darkroom, all proof copies of my housemate's thesis (something to do with air/sea ammonia(um) flux and it's impact on climate change)

It's not like the privacy is going to be a hugely popular feature, it's just that it affects a lot of pages, hence big list. The tags are going to be more used, and way cooler - they're represented by the shorter list on the right. Much smaller job for much bigger use..

alexis - I'm amazed you can read anything. my handwriting is dreadful, espcially when I'm just making notes for myself... I blame my left-handedness (s'reasonable excuse, at least)

I managed to read some stuffs on there too. and left handed ticks? you freak :p

I use side-bound notepads backwards as well... confuses the hell out of people.

alexis says:

interesting. (the two holes punched there (if that's what that is?) confused me a bit) I think you answered this with the side-bound notebook bit.
wait. no. I'm still confused. (will figure this out when I get home and look at paper sizes...)

(yay, tags. I've never been able to use tags. I tried with some journal entries. drives me insane to type out keyword each time. I love using them to browse other peoples stuff, though.)

are you kidding? I half expected to get responses from joe and you along the lines of "WTF? is this english?" regarding my inability to write neatly. for self-notes, those are good looking. (mine look like wavy lines, depending on how hard a time I'm having with my hand.)
(how's left-handedness an excuse? I use it, but, I don't write as much with my left as I do my right.)

Lefthanded kids rarely get taught to write properly (or at least not when I was that age) becuase writing left-handed doesn't work in the Approved Method (you try writing in ink while your hand drags over the text you've just written...). I can write nicely if I try, but I tend to lose focus on that pretty quickly, especially if I'm thinking stuff out as I write it down. I just said it was an excuse, I never claimed it was a good excuse :)

Tags ain't going to be all that hot, at first, but once I've got them going, I'll be expanding how they work. Basically, they're just going to be one part of a much large content aggregation system. I don't have all the details fully worked out in my head yet, but allowing some metadata (in the form of tags) to accumulate will help a lot.

For now, tags just link to technorati, but in time, there will be more groovy things to do with them..

The paper just has holes in it. No reason, at least not any more.. I'm using it sideways because it fits on my desk/under my keyboard that way, and it's folded down the middle so I don't have to look at two lists at once, only the one for the thing I'm working on....

less confused? :)

I used both hands equally when I was learning to write, but, was basically forced to go with my right hand (I think almost everyone was) because it's the appropriate thing, or something. we used only pencils 'till middle school or so. I only experienced the left-hand-smudge annoyance recently, when attempting to re-learn writing with my left.

much, much less confused. (I've been looking at 8.5x 11 inch paper with three holes down the side, so, I was trying to figure out how two in the middle would work with your printer paper over there)

Paper sizes are clearly designed to be mutually incompatible. Pads of A4 paper come with either two or four holes. I've never seen it with three here..

[edit] that's US vs ISO paper sizes.

teflon- yeah, know about sizes, I just, for some reason, had no idea about hole punches... two or four...? *shakes head* Thats got to be the largest difference between here and there.
oh, that, and those great stickers on packs of cigarettes... (not sure if that's just in england or not?)

I'm not getting over the hole punch thing...
see, in the 80's , the "Three Ring Binder" was the biggest deal. as much a part of school as lunch time/ school busses/etc. I don't know. my brain is having a field day trying to wrap itself around the concept. (to be fair, my brain is also not really functioning like it should be right now)
