Why I Hate ITV News (part 1 of many)

(viewed 1694 times)

In their stupid "virtual studio" they do a bit about tomorrow's headlines, like most news programmes. But instead of holding up the papers they mysteriously hover in virtual space: that's not what I'm bothered about.

Here's the thing: why do they chop the top off the broadsheets and just stick in the logo, when the tabloids all get their entire front page displayed including any adverts, offers, features, etc? Seems a little bit uneven, if you ask me.

I hate ITV News.

Helen says:

Nevermind ITV News. ITV News is unimportant.

What's important is the fact that my bluetooth adapter is broken.

Oh well. That's it then. I suppose.

teflon says:

that's a good question - it's not like there was anything controversial at the top of the Guardian's masthead today.

Maybe it's something to do with the way they're supplied with the front page artwork - or maybe they're just twunts.

a non ee mouse says:

well it's the dentist for you then young lady

12th Apr 2005, 14:32

Helen says:

That's a good point. I am overdue a dental appointment. Maybe I have been struck off and that's why it won't work.

A double post? This is no good. Might go back to bed.

12th Apr 2005, 14:36

neel says:

You're right, Helen - that is important. Do you mean your internal BooToof whatsit that's inside your PowerBook? If internal isn't so imnportant I'd point you towards the excellent-but-pretty-damn-cheap dongle I got from Amazon.

a non ee mouse: what? What??

12th Apr 2005, 14:38

neel says:

Oh, I get it. A pun.

tefloon: I don't think it's anything to do with controversy. They always do exactly that - different rules for tabloids and broadsheets. Gits.

What would a non-e-mouse be, but a real one :O

12th Apr 2005, 14:40

Oh, they're virtual! I'd had it in my mind that they had big cardboard cut-outs, but that would make more sense.

Euphro says:

Moblog:uk keeps timing out. Is something about to break? (now that Joe's away)

12th Apr 2005, 14:43

Helen says:

My PowerBook is post-infrared and pre-bluetooth. (My phone has both these things.)

It's exactly that dongle (yes, that one, there on Amazon) that has broken on me. Its little blue light just won't flash anymore and my phone can't get it to respond. Dead.

12th Apr 2005, 14:49

seaneeboy says:

Poor dongle.

I got mine from ebay for a fiver, and has worked like a trooper :)

12th Apr 2005, 14:53

neel says:

Ouch! That's a tragic shame, and now has me concerned for the future usefulness of my own little dongle. How long'd you have it for, Helen?

Before I'd, I wandered over to PC World (I know, I know) to see if they had any cheaper. Sixty. Bleedin'. Quid. Amazon it was.

12th Apr 2005, 14:56

teflon says:

Actually, er, this post has reminded me of something rather important.

this job that I'm going to apply for.. :)

12th Apr 2005, 15:03

Helen says:

Since November, I think (eBay, they were out-of-stock at Amazon). It has been knocked about a little, what with it sticking out the back of the laptop the way it does. And its nose has been bent. This could be an abuse case. I am afraid.

I'm half-heartedly trying to prise it open, so that I can take-a-look. Not that having a Helen take-a-look at it will help it in any way whatsover. It may yet come back to life. I have hope. There is always hope.

(Except, upon examination of my USB ports, I did find chocolate in one of them, well not in it, near it.)

12th Apr 2005, 15:04

Helen says:

Good luck with that teflon!

12th Apr 2005, 15:13

neel says:

Ah, the old chocolate-coated-USB-port problem. That's a tricky one.

I'm trying to be nice to mine, although I have stuck white-tack over the very bright blinky light.

That looks like a really good job, teflon - goferit!

12th Apr 2005, 15:36

Helen says:

Anyone seen the students on Newsnight?

12th Apr 2005, 16:39

neel says:

The Newsnight Student House? Yep. Novelty item. Wish I could eat nothing but pizza...

12th Apr 2005, 16:40

Helen says:

You'd need an oven.

12th Apr 2005, 16:43

Dh Airlines says:

ITV News annoies me because they use things like Farenheights and yards which I don't understand

PS how heavy is a pound?

31st Jul 2005, 17:59

Helen says:

16 ounces.

(if I had a pound coin, I'd weigh that, if I had scales.)
