"We cross our bridges when we come to them and burn them behind us, with nothing to show for our progress except a memory of the smell of smoke, and a presumption that once our eyes watered." - Guildenstern, Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead

Yeah, I used SuSE at first, too. Novell bought them out last year, and then they moved into this building. It's really cool actually - you can't see it in this picture, but the building is angled really weird, almost pointy. I'll see if I can get a better picture tomorrow or so. It's right next to the uni.

I've never used SUSE, but I've heard good things about it. Mandrake is rocking, especially for recovering Windows users, but it's not quite hardcore enough for me (rpms suck). Have you seen Ubuntu? It's like a super-friendly Debian, my housemate runs it, it's lovely..

Nope, I haven't, but I'll try it as soon as I get a chance (exams...!). I really like Debian, too.

SuSE is pretty good for beginners, too.

Still slapping my PowerBook with the Ubuntu Live CD, to not much effect so far...

Why would you do that? ... I mean, there is OSX! ;)

Oh, I'm lovin' OS X, natch. But 8.6 is getting me down on my unsupported-by-OS X PowerBook G3 so since it's going spare now I thought I'd take it up to the lab, so to speak.

How does Yellow Dog match up on the "complete Linux newbie who don't know squat" scale, Joe?
