I think it must've taken them the best part of 25 years to get this done, but the reason for the lovely signs on people's cars the other day was this, rather rough looking yellow lines everywhere.

Yellow lines by the side of the road mean no parking. This street is fairly close to the local train station, so I reckon they've probably had a lot of people parking there all day instead of using the station car park.
