a thankless task indeed.

Although I did finally get hold of some mp3s of Northern Exposure (which I've had on vinyl for ages), which is nice. Some of the best progressive trance records ever made are on there - Raincry, The Gloom, Sound System and above all, Out of Body Experience. That track still gives me shivers (the good kind).

Anyway, points for anyone who can guess who all these albums are by.

No idea, I like the sound of "Shitfuckers!!!" though.

General question for more windows based readers: What do you use to play your music with at the moment? I've finally managed to get my desktop to talk to my laptop so I can see the files on the desktop on my laptop... have tried songbird but it's very much in beta and it shows!

I've heard good things about MusicKube, but frankly you should just install a grown up operating system and use Amarok with a proper MySQL database backend. That's what I do. :)

May well give that a go.

And yes, yes, I know.

Wait two days until the absolute latest ubuntu is out, then give it a few hours of your attention. It's worth it.

Seriously, it'll be fine. Even my Dad runs ubuntu unaided these days.

Songs About My Cats is by Venetian Snares. Haha. My gf's mum bought it from Banham carboot sale just because she likes cats and she buys no end of obscure acetate from there.
She hated it. Though I think she liked the cats miaowing on 'Cleaning Each Other'

they're all Venetian Snares. Damn guy has done like four albums a year since 1999. They're roughly half-and-half insanecore smashbeat assault techno and gorgeous wonderful classical electronics. Rossz Csillah Alatt Szuletett is one of my favourite albums of all time.

are they the names of 4 of his cats?

No, it's Hungarian for "Born Under a Bad Star". Includes a remix of the famous 'suicide song', Gloomy Sunday.

haha, venetian snares are definitely not mum-friendly, unless mum really likes snare rushes.

She may be interested to know that some of the sounds on that album were generated from actual pictures of his cats that were converted by some kind of software. Crazy trivia.
