We have spent many many hours at Leeds International Pool over the years, both of our girls were competitive swimmers, BB was a swimming coach, and i used to love coming here at lunch or after work to swim in it's cool water

Are they knocking it down? It certainly could do with a face lift.

yup. It has quite a story actually, apparently as soon as it was built, it as discovered to be a tile width too short to be an 'official' international pool, and the council never really bothered with it because of that.

It is weird with no water in it and being able to walk in side it. And i worry about where the cockroaches that were so abundant have gone.

I remember the place being built, and going there for the first time - it felt much more important than going to just any swimming pool. I also remember that this was the venue for my first swim after I'd broken my wrist. The pot was off, and there was no stopping me. I was surprised at how good it felt. I forgot all thoughts of pain. I got to the side, put my hands down to hoist myself out of the water... the acoustics in that place were amazing!
