Don't you think the ad execs and designers have blatantly borrowed this idea from here? It was my mum who mentioned it first.

Helen says:

I imagine it is exactly the type of picture that would be chopped out of the Metro and held on file and stored by ad execs, for future inspiration/use.

And reference to sites like Moblog would be particularly pertinent for such a campaign. Oooh.

Although I do think it is possible for someone else to notice that a mug handle is in the shape of half a heart, but how often do shadows fall on mugs like that?

It's the phone cam link that makes it more... 'suspicious'.

"Right, we need to advertise the brilliance of the Samsung phone cam... I know just the thing... pictures of mug handles making heart shapes... it's obvious, innit?"

Although, in their defence, the cafe/pub/bar setting is probably where most people do most of their messing with phones.

I can't believe it's a coincidence but there's no one stopping others adapt a concept.

Just think that if anyone claimed to know their 'mobile photography' they'd have to concede this particular symbol was coined by one of the early masters :)

i thought that as soon as i saw it on telly

beth says:

yeah, course I thought it.

imitation is the best form of flattery.. and you saw it here first!! and i mean HERE as you blogged it first. It's a shame i didn't get any credit for it in the newspaper. So many people saw that who i've mentioned it to months later.

I JUST WISH I HAD A JOB. Afterall I'm the one with the ideas :)

would've been funny if the whole ad campaign was blatantly ripping off the whole metro ad.. with people chopping into tomatoes and walking through puddles and writing on windows etc etc... maybe then we could sue! First community blog creative commons lawsuit action?

A little investigation has lead me to find out that a company called CHI and partners did this ad campaign. The Samsung account they've acquired with this campaign is worth £30 million.

Oh I'd love to write a carefully worded email suggesting they employ me direct next time they need an ad campaign doing as they obviously like my ideas :)

Hmmm *scratches chin* there could be more to that idea than meets the eye...

One thing that is slightly annoying about creative commons is that it frequently gets ignored or slightly misused. It seems there is no effective way to enforce it and get the due accreditation.
