And by caved, I mean I queued for a tech product for the first time in
my life (albeit for only 10 minutes).

Verdict so far? I love it.

Ewwww?! There are many things that can be said about the iPhone, but eww is not one of them!

Kostika says:

Nope, ewww is the first thing that comes to mind. You couldn't pay me to own/use an iPhone. There's jsut too many problems with it for it to be useful to me. And I won't even begin to get into the menu design.

Nope, ewww is definately the right expression.

Heh. Well, for me the menu design is the strongest feature. I've never owned a bit of technology that was easier to use. In terms of day to day use, it's a huge amount less frustrating than my K800i, especially for web browsing and sending emails. I can even put up with the crappy camera just about.

But each to their own I suppose...

the one main thing that would make me delay buying one of these is the camera, i like a good camera on my phone as i always have it on me and use it for snaps when i see something interesting, but the lack of quality on the camera dissapoints me. :(

i am very tempted to get one when my contract comes round. but the camera, the camera :(

No 3G either. And even if you don't think you actuvely use 3G, you do. Web browsing and email on a 3G phone uses it usually even if you don't have a 3G contract (depending on network. This is the case for vodafone).

Four button presses jsut to get to a place where I can dial a phone number is not good menu design.

Heh. I didn't have a 3G sim in my old phone - never got round to ordering one.

And it's only 2 - phone button, keypad button ;-)

If you're going to own a mega phone it should have 3G. Problem is that the US market doesn't have as big a call for it because the phone networks jsut aren't playing ball with each other. So selling a big time phone like this in the US without 3G isn't as amiss as it is here. 3G is everywhere here and it really does speed up your internet and email a lot.
