just love those colours

is this just as it was on a rock it part of a collection?

I looked up your part of Australia the other day on the google maps - it is just so wild

looked up the different schools too - how are you connected to Punmu?

Jigalong says:

Thanks for the compliments.

The art work is found in some caves, that would have provided shelter. It appears that there are stories painted on all rock surfaces throughout. The caves are located about half way between Punmu and Kunawarritji.

My connection to Punmu is through work, where I assist communities in horticulture projects, through training programs. I usually spend 2 to 3 weeks at a time out here every ten weeks. More photos can be found at the busted site, which are the pictures the group have decided they would like up. If you want to go to a place with complete contrast to where you live Viv, a month at Punmu would fit the bill :)

really glad it is in situ
went to the orkneys years ago and there's a stoneage village there Skara Brae info here and it really upset me that the artefacts that had been found there were in the museum at Edinburgh!

I really would love to come - my years in teaching could be useful too - could give me a new perspective on life and I think I need that!
the mood I'm in at the moment - given a date i'd book it - risk the jeep journey as well!

Do you got to Parnngurr as well?

Jigalong says:

I am at Parnngurr at the moment doing same same Because its only a short distance (4 hours drive) I only spend a week here at a time. Unfortunately an elder has passed away in the community and sorry time has started.

If you do plan to come over, I will talk to the school principal if you wanted to teach for a term. Working in these communities has certainly given me a new perspective, and a realisation of whats important and what is needed to be happy (and money aint it!)

I'll post a picture of Punmu school truck later tonight. The last time I was in Punmu, the school had a weekend campover and there was 33 kids and 6 adults in the 5 hour trip. I promise you that if you did this, it would be an experience you will remember for a very long time :)

hey, viv, I want to come too. I cannot think of a world I want to know better. I could try to be useful.
I remember so well being shocked when they told me at Uluru that in bus tour days the driver would throw water on art like this so it would show up better.

and nice css.

Jigalong says:

Thanks D and SR. Alex Hayes is with me and showed a little about CSS. We copied Mandys codes and changed a few things. (sorry Mandy)

Im having great trouble with the internet connection tonight so I might not be able to post my picture of the truck. Will be back in town tomorrow before taking off for a month of fishing at Port Smith.
