the tube is not designed to be a pleasant experience for anyone under 5'6" or taller than 5'10"
Talk about being packed in tighter than sardines in a tin can. They must be a friendly lot over there:)
UKmari, that's right. I need a trip to Tokyo.
and of course, that was Kiefer Sutherland right there, just saying hi to another canadian right there on the London tube. you were there, nige, didn't he say hello?
i think he was on your side, next to the friendly tall chap by the door who was talking about the tube being the ultimate in London intimacy :)
the Tall Friendly Chap was very sweet, and we were squished right up against the door together. I liked rush hour. Londoners carefully stare anywhere but at each other, except in rush hour, where it gets downright friendly.
I told Jack you liked his show.
hahaha! i've just realised you think i mean Jack Bauer from 24. i actually meant Jack the Doctor from LOST. you know, the show where the plane crashes on the island?
sorry, Nige, you're right. Jack from Lost was NOT there. There's only one real Jack in my life. :)
I am not keen on the underground at any time of day, but rush hour makes me nervous. I am not claustrophobic but i don't like crowds and i have a keen sense of smell, so body odours, bad breath, stale fag smoke etc make me fell queasy, and perfumes and aftershaves bring on a mild asthmas attack. But apart form that!!!
FF, if I had to use the tube at rush hour every day, I probably would not look forward to it all. But for me, it was all new and different. I liked the London tube. Londoners seem very aloof, but it was not like that at all on my rush hour ride. More like Lost, everyone abandoned on an island where survival was really really important. or until your stop.
