Cheque for some site work and writing. Unfortunately that's 2 months work and US dollars. But it got paid in today despite the idiot at the bank not knowing how to do a foreign cheque.

Had a surprise when I got home too. Had a cheque for another $75 USD from another site I have been writing for for a while now.

kristiyan says:

funny thing is the cheques are also a form of writing - money writing, for writing for money, if you get what i mean.

and i still mean -- it's the best part of the process, actually D

frankly, on the top shot, the paper and the keyboard are both twisted in the same curl.

a few years ago I sold some CDs to an american, and the hassle I had getting the cheque into the bank was bloody unbelievable! They spout forth about a global economy and they don't even know what to do with an american cheque!

The bank is staffed with raging morons.

It's really simple to handle a foreign cheque. Fill out the form and take the check, give me the second to last page of the form. There, job done. But no it just couldn't be that easy for this moron. She took forever filling out the form. She made me sign the cheque twice, the scond time in a way so they could read my signature. Much to her dismay I signed it a second time exactly as I had the first time, totally illegible. It took me nearly 30 minutes to pay in a single cheque. I was fuming when I walked out of there.

I've got another cheque to pay in but I'll probably wait til next week to do it because I can't face the idiots twice in one week.

thats ridiculous. cheques are so archaic too. they get lost, and stupid things like this happen. waste of time.

I agree Nige, but I'm getting paid by a company in the US and a bank transfer is an even bigger pain in the ass for both parties involved. I'm always worried my cheques will get lost in the mail.

lose lose either way, huh? but hey, at least you're getting paid ; )

kostika says:

Yea pretty much. I'll be switching one of the sites to paying via paypal soon though now that I have a special bank account for my writing though. Which is good cause PayPal gives a better exchange rate than the bank usually.

At least I'm getting paid :o)

Checks, sooo ninety's dear.
But always nice to receive.
Do they not charge a small fortune to handle it?
