So I opened the car door to be greeted by this fungus growing in the foot well! think i need to get Frankie some more welding done. Then i did test out my ankle by driving to the bike shop (oh the irony and P'hobo will tell me off) and i did buy myself some smart bikey shoes and a long sleeved stay cool top, not the best of colours for a gingernut, but it was the best i could find, i need the sleeves to stop be burning in this heat wave we are having

they look a damn fine pair of shoes FF even if you did drive to the bike shop! ;-) good idea to cover the arms up too - an alternative to a jacket is (titter ye not) armwarmers.

i know that cycling isn't about making a fashion statement, and i am going to look like a big red ball in this shirt, with my high colour and orange hair, but even i draw the line at arm warmers in the 'summer'.

Wearing the shoes in the house as we speak and they feel comfortable, next i will need new pedals and cleats....

I hardly ever drive anywhere these days but i had to see how my ankle would cope

She is called Frankie because that is the name she was given when she was born.

ooh, you're going the whole hog with cleats and stuff eh? in that case I'd recommend the shimano M324 combination pedal (linky) which are cleated on one side and straight pedal on t'other. That way, when you're hoppin on and off the pedals you don't need to clip in and out, then when you're on a long haul you can bolt yourself in. My shoes have similar soles to yours, and I've left the cleats in and used them on both bikes with no problems.

that is a funny looking whatever it is, but those shoes do look cool.

i think that colour would look dodgy on anyone, regardless of hair colour ;)

Ta Mr Hobo, i think i may spend my birthday money from my mum on a pair of them there pedal things, now which cleats to buy....

I can tell you now your shoes take the small SPD cleats; the two screws in your removable rubber pads correspond to two grooves in the sole. (linky), this is good; so do the pedals!
