learnt them in school and used to visit other schools on Sat mornings to practice our skills!

If they teach it in school that explains how the Scots managed to keep dancing long after the steps got too complicated for us English.

It's easy for Australians to do Ceilidhs as well, because we're taught "bushdancing" from an early age. Bushdances clearly derived from Ceilidhs, although I didn't know that as a child.
