WOW is all I can say about it. Absolutely fantastic. I could even access all my documents etc that I had on winblows.

I've bottled out from a full install halfway through though, as I wanted to ask a few questions first.

On the install process it asked me about partitioning drives. The options were full disk, or manual. How do I split it up so that I don't lose all my work stuff?

Also, can I then connect back up to the small network we have here so that I could access files elsewhere and on our server?

It was? There's only a small network here of 6 computers, but I'm worried about not being able to re-connect.

internal network should be fine. You want manual partition editing, it will let you resize existing disk partitions to create a space for ubuntu to install in - it'll l be happy on a 7GB partition or so.

But, if you have important files on the machine - BACK THEM UP FIRST! Cut a CD or something, that's the safest option.

oh, if there is a working windows install on your system (if you don't format the disk, for exmaple) ubuntu should auto-detect it and let you boot into it whenever you desire.
