Sorry :) They were fantastic as well. Leeds Farmers Market does the business once more.

OMG that looks great.
I've had no breakfast so in all honest the cardboard flaps on the box on my desk are looking tasty right now.

Had an ostrich burger 2 weeks ago from a farmers market in Shef, very yummy, lovely lean meat with a slightly rubbery texture when cooked through though nonetheless nice!

These were the guys:
YOu can pre-order and pick up from a farmers market near you!

They really were - a really soft texture, like pork, but a strong beefy taste with a hint of gamey venison-like taste.

And very lean too. Which is good cos they were quite hefty, 6oz each :)

And yeah, I think those ostritch people do the Leeds Market too.

I had some Kangaroo fillet a few months back from a local Farm shop, they were fantastic - really nicer than I expected.

Cool - The bangers are great too :)

Somewhere on your list should be Highland Cattle beef as well :)

I make burgers regularly with turkey mince and they're fantastic, low fat, cheap and quick. Here's my usual:

Chop a load of onion up fine, about 5 cloves of garlic crushed, a whole big fat pinch of cumin, loads of pepper, big fat spoon of Colmans English mustard, tonnes of chopped up sun dried tomatoes, finely chopped birdeye chilli, a bunch of pumpkin and sunflower seeds and an egg.
Mash up very well with hands to clean under fingernails.
Shape into burger sized patties, coat in seasoned flower, fry until cooked in some nice olive oil.
Stick in a seeded brown bun with ketchup/sweet chilli sauce and some rocket/salad. Top with parmesan and more black pepper.

'scuse me..there are buffalo roaming around the UK? the ones with horns, that like to travel in herds over the prairie? and you're eating them as burgers?

seaneeboy says:

There are indeed. Quite a lot of farmers in the UK are rearing unconventional animals, then selling their meat at specialist fairs.

This particular buffalo was reared in the Peak District.
