The new twenty pound note, that I didn't realise was coming out.

Quite nice really.

looks rather ominously like a euro to me...

They are still taking the others though aren't they....? I hope so, I have some in the sock under my bed..

kostika says:

That's very colourful. I didn't know they were bringing out new ones either.

20th Mar 2007, 14:49

nobody bothered to tell me either! It does look decidedly euroesque, but I never get to see such a humongous amount of money all in one go anymore. Are they doing new fivers and tenners too?

540air says:

It reminded me somewhat of an older five pound note from about 20 years ago, but yes, there's a large sneaky amount of Euro creeping in there.

I had no idea they were bring a new one out! And I have to ask... whats the point? It really wasn't all that long ago the current design was released!

I'm also not sure I like it, it looks too uneven with all that whiteness!

20th Mar 2007, 16:05

if you look closely it says EuRo......... where the E =R is ;-P
well it wont be long lets face it!

He he he

They could've at least put a bit more white in her hair!
I hope they take the old ones for a while. I only come home once or twice a year so I hold onto my 20s for long periods of time in-between visits.

It's slightly odd isn't it?

seaneeboy says:

I heard about these ages ago - it was all over the news!

Bit weird though, I quite liked the big blocky 20 in the corner of the current ones (and current 10 and 5) so I guess this is the way it's going to go...

Ach, well, it's not the most important thing in the world, but an interesting oddity nonetheless...

As for becoming Euro, I don't think I'd mind too much. Wouldn't actively go for it, mind, but wouldn't go all out to stand in it's way...

540air says:

Sean, do you have insider info on the news? I compltetely missed anything to do with this :)

As for the Euro? I'm not really sure whether I think it's a good thing or not.

I'm fairly sure it was on the front page that day :)

540air says:

I like when that happens, as people actually take time to make the effort for a quick chat. It can make a day so much nicer.

Sean, I can't believe I missed that, BBC news is one of my most visited sites :)

Helen says:

I like it. I think it is much classier than any of the other British notes and harks back a little to the previous £20.

Plus, it looks nothing like the Euro notes. There are people on it for a start. And the pound sign is extra prominent. I think some people are just paranoid (I had an argument in the office about it, with someone who reads The Sun). I don't take issue with the Euro though, I wouldn't mind if it was introduced here, but they're not going to do it by slowly amalgamating the pound and the euro notes over time.

Rich says:

Yeah, it looks like a lot of paper currency. I like it, but then I also yearn for life under the euro-federalist jackboot, so what do I know.
