on the canal to Allerton Byewater. This was the path of the old railway, there is a lot of 'regeneration' in this old mining area of the county. We passed an environmentally aware development, will have to go back and try and get some pic - they looked liked holiday chalets. The last picture is the view to Leeds from near home. It doesn't do it justice, I really like the view on a sunny day, the city just seem to shine out

Just got a map of the whole of the L to L canal. Gulp! It is a long long long way. We need to find some weekends when we have time to be out all day, to get some training in.

Do love that gateway ....

Did reply to your email and sent some alternative pics ... got an email from Mat saying that if you do not put your own email address in the 'from box' then all replies go to him as the administrator ... so if you could send me your 'real' email address through the user contact then I could resend you the pics!

long time since I've been out that way, but as a schoolkid used to cycle out to Fairburn Ings to do a bit of birdwatching - just a bit further on from Allerton, 4 or 5 waterfilled coal quarries, now a well-established nature reserve.
