Love this pic... Fantastic contrasts - also great to see a full winter coat. It's all hunter clips round here... :)

I was out walking with Thor yesterday when this horse came running towards us full tilt. I had just enough time to get my camera out to capture this image. Then my camera battery died. The unique look of the image is due solely to the fact that my camera can't handle the bright sunlight with all of the reflective snow. Theres not a lot I can do to adjust aperture etc... most images end up bled out white. I guess this one turned out. Kind of wish the fence wasn't there.

bob, it's just great the way it is, fence or no fence. I assumed you took the shot and did things to it-- instead it was dead battery and too much sun. Makes it kind of better that way.

Well I cropped it...my dog's big head was in the bottom of the frame....and I like this more cinematic format sometimes...
also thinking back on it, though compositionally the fence is annoying, it did give me some much appreciated seperation from a charging horse. So that was okay...he did turn out to be friendly in the end. But I think he didn't like the look of my big slobbery overly curious dog sniffing around his pasture.

WTG on the hi-light it almost doesn't look real...

I know, that's why I posted it...It's sort of eerie, almost magical looking I guess....I don't think the horse was in fact that brightly coloured. As I mentioned above there was a camera malfunction involved. I agree with sprocket who stated that it looks like an oil painting...sort of reminds me of an artist whos name I don't recall who painted camouflaged animals in snowy scenes.....anyway's I'm glad people are enjoying the image.. I'm sort of surprised, considering the circumstances it was taken in. But maybe that adds to it.
