So this was today's ride, from our house, to the Aire a Calder Navigation canal, then joint the Leeds-Liverpool in central Leeds, then out as far as Newlay Locks/Bramley Fall. Then back home. About 22 miles in total. At end of June/beginig of July me and the Mr are hoping to take part in the Leeds-Liverpool sponsored bike ride, 127 miles from the official start (a bit more if we cycle from home) over 3 days, in aid of Heart Research UK. So we thought we had better get some miles in

couldn't eat a pair that's for sure!

I seem to remember reading recently that swans are actually quite promiscuous, so they may pair for life, but enjoy a bit on the side as well.

If you did this by barge it would have taken all day. Better get in good shape it's sounds like a great adventure travelling the longest canal in Britain.

BD I thought the Grand Union Canal was the longest?
Beautiful bit of the world though which I know so very well - my formative years were spent cycling around Yorkshire (based between Castleford and Pontefract) my favoured route into the pennines was through Leeds and along Wharfedale; Otley, Ilkley, Skipton, Gargrave, Settle - course, there were no such things as mountain bikes in them days...

Nice series FF.

I've often wondered how long Leeds to Liverpool would take by barge rather than M62.

FilbertFox says:

OJ - ta me ducks. i reckon the canal boat would be quicker than gridlocked M62

P'hobo - the next 'mileston' is skipton for lunch and back again. I have never been to skipton.

Nice ride out FF.
My mate lives on a narrowboat, looks like fun.
There'd be a hell of a lot of locks between Leeds and Liverpool.
Mind you, you'd need a lot of locks to keep out those scousers.

12th Feb 2007, 18:44

FilbertFox says:

there are a few locks for sure, but maybe we need to up the number, i did hear a scouse accent only today!

JokerXL says:

Put the chain on!!

13th Feb 2007, 05:53

FilbertFox says:

and we should put a couple of bolts on. No wait that sounds far too much like a place in Lanchashire, we can't be having them here and all!
