There is a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in
Mon pays, c'est l'hiver.
my dog blog
my Flickr photos, where my plants and fungus live
But at least it's still daylight at 3 p.m.! Look at the light glinting off the boxy highrise! I also like the ship on the right in the bottom photo.
The ship is called the 'Canadian Miner'. It looks like it is not going anywhere fast. I like it grey. Better than Hawaii weather now.:)
thanks F. I had a great day. Birthday present to myself was a couple of hours with my camera down by the lake. The sound of the ice and water is incredible.
cold and beautiful
it was your birthday?
Hope you had a wonderful one!
xx
Beautiful pics, but, shouldn't it be frozen by now (the lake, I mean)?
yes, by now the lake should have such thick ice you could drive on it..but it has been cold only for the last ten days. It is going down to -20 at night for the next few days, which is lucky. This weekend our winter festival begins-WinterCity, and it has to be cold for the ice sculptures, ice painting, and for your frozen feet while listening to the bands play outside.
Toronto's Winter Celebration
Thanks. It was a stellar day. Great food, my fabulous boys, good friends. Feeling warm and fuzzy. :)
Belated Happy Birthday ! .... glad you had a warm fuzzy one ..... lovely pics ..... maybe a little too cold for my taste (-20!) ..... enjoy your winter festival, I love ice sculptures (especially when viewed with a nice cup of hot chocolate in hand) .
Gorgeous pics, top one is my fave. Belated Happy Birthday Wishes to you!
thanks for the birthday wishes. and the delight in my pathetic bit of snow. making the best of it.
Happy birthay for yesterday SR. Last night the temp got down to +29.1 degrees. Any chance of being able to record the sound of water and ice along those foreshores and moblog it. I take it is different to the sound of waves on the beach.
hello j. good to hear from you. I spent the day down at the lake making an ice sculpture. People came along and got involved. My camera battery was dead from the cold by the time I got to it. I'll try to do a video. The lake is trying so hard to make ice. The new little pieces crash under the shelf of existing ice and it is a constant lovely sound. Stay cool. Are you back at work?
Yes I am, right under an airconditioner, with lovely flowing cool air set at 25 degrees. You must take a picture of the sculpture for us. Do you use a chainsaw for carving?
I have heard of someone saying to put your batteries into your pockets to keep them warm.
stay under that a/c. 25 is considered hot here. I will blog my adventures, promise. Pockets are too cold. I learned today from another photographer where to put my battery, and it isn't polite...but it works.:)
Gah! I missed your birthday..
Hope you had a good day. I have good memories about that part of Toronto, I love the waterside over there near the tower. Queens Quay & Harbour?
*Trying very hard not to imagine where those batteries are being warmed! LOLOLOL
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! And what a beautiful set of photos to record the snow you've yearned for for so long. So beautiful!
these are fantastic particularly love the second shot belated happy birthday :-)
Nice shots and skyline, especially the CN Tower. Oh and Happy Belated Birthday too.
A belated HAPPY HAPPY SRose! * throws streamer. Hope it was a good one. Beautiful pics - love the light. My Saffie bones can't comprehend -20C - woah! Enjoy :D
every time I see that skyline it makes me feel sad I haven't been back for 7 years now. When I have some money, I am coming to visit!
I have some gorgeous pictures of icy Toronto but they are all on my old computer so I can't get them.
Bfish! Yes. Grey dull photo for a January birthday. Miss you. xx
And a Happy Birthday from me too (looking back through the comments makes me smile)
