Hopefully everything's ok?

Actually we got a report back today and the news was good. It looks like all of the damage is soft tissue related, her bones look good. This will mean, according to the doctor, "a much faster and easier recovery", even though the doctor was speaking of a year in physical therapy.

Damage? I hadn't realised she was ill. She looks a picture of health in most of the pics you post.

Hopefully it won't pan out to be a year, but much less instead :)

Thanks for the concern :) It is never fun to be going through medical stuff with your kid.

She started suffering from pretty severe back pain about 7 months ago, but she didn't really express how bad it was getting until 4 months ago (all that kung fu training she takes so seriously had taught her to put up with pain). Then we had some doctor and insurance frustration to deal with. We finally got to a competent specialist a month ago. In the meantime she has had to take a break from dance and kung fu both until she gets the all clear from the doctor. She has been doing kung fu 8+ hours per week for the past 7 years so it is a huge change .

Anyhow, she has some structural issues they will monitor with annual x-rays, but the bone scan ruled out some of the really serious options (but it was ordered 5 weeks ago and only happened yesterday, stupid system). In the meantime the past month of PT has already brought about some improvement, so that is definitely good.

Yikes. Hope Radioactive Girl gets back to just being Active Girl nice & soon. Maybe something with a bit less being thumped though? Sticking Hands Tai Chi is an amazing form... frustrates the hell out of opponents... ;)

This back issue actually has absolutely nothing to do with any sort of injury incurred during sparring. It is just genetics and life. Luckily we've only had very minor sparring or weapons related oopses.

She will be given her jr black belt this month as she had already done all the work to earn it prior to needing to take a break from formal training.

I am hoping the radioactive injection will give her super powers.

Only meant not being thumped while she's doing her PT...
Sure she'll use her superpowers for good....
