PHWOAR. Just, PHWOAR. Ducati really know how to make a motorcycle, don't they...?

5th Jan 2007, 14:56

540air says:

They certainly do!!

I'll try and get some video of it later when he fires it up, the noise really is something else. :)

mat says:

Oh, I know the Ducati sound. I used to live two doors from an 888SP. You more "feel" a Ducati go past than "hear" it.. :)

'Launch' being the operative word here..

Nice bike

540air says:

It's the ground shaking that does it every time. He used to have a 748s and a 749s, which I thought were really loud, but he says that this one makes them sound quiet.

Cheers SFG and launch is quite the word indeed :)

God, I must be getting old; found myself thinking; "very lovely but a decent Honda is so much more reliable..." ;D

6th Jan 2007, 14:11

mat says:

Yes Hildegard, the purchase of a motorcycle should be based on good, sensible factors like reliability, safety, comfort and fuel economy. It's that kind of thinking that has kept Ducati (not to mention Triumph) in business all these years. :)

6th Jan 2007, 17:23

hildegard says:

Be fair, Mat, what's kept them in business all these years is the market for second vehicles... ;)

It was a big pile of pennies, but I'd say worth it. The sound does it for me, Hondas, Yamahas, etc all sound the same. But a Ducati? Bit like Status Quo really, you just know that sound anywhere....

panos(panosko-at-hellasnet-dot-gr) says:

It's a great motorcycle but with one major problem. The fuel tank capacity is just 12liters . This means a lot. every (aprox.) 100klm you gotta stop for gas. Who's gonna buy a motorcycle with so limited travel distance (excuse my english)

hey guys! ive been waiting for my 1098S to arrive for 4months it sucks! but tell me is it true you should only fit the full termi-exhaust system after the first service?this is what the dealer recommended

11th May 2007, 13:17

540air says:

Not sure about that one, but I'll try and find out for you.

panos - It is? He hasn't mentioned that he has to keep stopping for fuel, but that seems very small.

The fuel tank capacity is actually 15.5 Litres, I have just picked up my Tricolore, and it just makes you feel alive, can't wait for the summer.

Tim says:

Picking my tricolore up in Aug, the last one in the country still unregistered. I am very excited.
