a nice random image to get you started:

i now have a FLICKR page too!

"why would a reviewer make the point of saying someone's *not* a genius? do you especially think i'm *not* a genius? you didn't even have to think about it, did you?"

"monkeys are superior to men in this: when a monkey looks into a mirror, he sees a monkey.”

"i am secretly afraid of animals.... i think it is because of the usness in their eyes, with the underlying not-usness which belies it, and is so tragic a reminder of the lost age when we human beings branched off and left them: left them to eternal inarticulateness and slavery. why? their eyes seem to ask us."

"we've all heard that a million monkeys banging on a million typewriters will eventually reproduce the entire works of shakespeare. thanks to the internet, we now know this is not true..."

african monkey proverb: "the day the monkey is destined to die, all the trees get slippery."

"i'll buy a bunch of monkeys, dress them up, and make them re-enact the civil war"

might work.

4th Jan 2007, 12:14

that is a genius idea!

4th Jan 2007, 12:16

hhhm, not sure it will work. the URL "" (and any derivitives) is on the company's blacklist now, so it simply flat-out blocks it.

i'll give it a go though.

we can access moblog on the communal computers in the break room, which is where i am now, but not at our desks.

bum bum bum

Also posted on another moblog near here: TorPark - secure, anonymous browsing: without anything to install.

I haven't tried it, so I can't say if it works. I'd be interested to hear about it if you do try though.

not only is moblog on the departmental banned list, we cannot access anything to do with the word blog, anything to do with the word mail (hotmail, gmail, et al) so we can't use personal email. We are however allowed to use our work email address for personal use providing we don't breach the electronic media policy and don't mind our emails being read by all and sundry. As a Union Rep I'm aware that my emails come under closer scrutiny than most, but I don't use that knowledge to wind people up,.. not ever!

ES - see my link above. TorPark shouldn't need to do additional content filtering, iirc, the Tor network is encrypted (therefore unscannable) right up to just-before display.

i don't think torpark will work, because the browser would still issue a request for moblog and the proxy would get it. wht you could do is visit href="" target="_blank"> whish has some proxies that encrypt the url you want to visit so that it does not appear in the request. Alternatively you could visit moblog by using it's IP. hope this helps :)

5th Jan 2007, 14:19

mat says:

Magma - afaik, the tor network is encrypted all the way. ie: you make an encrypted request to a Tor-net proxy - the whole system (which is much more than just a modded firefox) is designed from the ground up to get around stuff like content filters. Simply using a proxy would probably work too (although that would leave traces on your computer that Mr IT could find later), but it's easier to have one that someone else has set up for you, one designed secure from the start. Torpark is a CDC/Hacktivisimo product, it's hard as nails: you don't mess with the Cult of the Dead Cow - they are the people who got around the Great Firewall of China.

Using mbUK's ip won't work, as the webserver isn't expecting that, and will send you to it's default location (which isn't moblog).

swamprose - don't worry, i'll still be posting, but i might not get to comment as often. i'm on a break at the mo, so i can.

joker - resigning is an option. i've been thinking about changing jobs, and this might just be the thing that makes me jump ship
