hachi - It's the red Escort. My rear lights and dashboard lights only work part-time at the moment. You have to switch the lights on and off a few times to get them to come on. Apparently in days gone by you could buy the various piece parts that went in for next to nothing, but some bright spark at Fords decided to put the whole thing into one big block.

para - It does rather suck.

mf - Deal!!

sean - Yep, but to be fair, the car generally runs well and breakages are few and far between.

oh wow, I had an Escort ages ago. That little thing ran like iron. I wonder how different yours is from the ones we used to have here.

Geez, sorry you have to pay so much. Sometimes cars really stink.

Yep, they certainly do sometimes!! :)

Escorts are fun little cars really. In 20 years of driving I think I've gone full circle, My first car was a customised Escort with airbrushed artwork and all sorts of bits and pieces, and now I have my nice air-conditioned one which itself is about 8 years old.

I've wondered about things like that myself many times. I can't imagine there would be huge differences, as they would keep manufacturing costs down by mass producing the same thing in larger quantities. Do you have any old pics of yours?

The UK and US ones are mostly different in every way, the UK escort is a europewide one, although there are loads of cars we share with ford/mercury in the US, the Mondeo is a Mercury, the Cougar is a Mercury and the Scorpio is a different car too!

I thought that over the last 10 or 15 years that they'd made them all quite similar, shows what I know!! :D

I do have pictures, but I don't have a scanner. I'll try and dig them out and take pictures of the pictures and blog those, if I can remember.

It was a black 4-door hatchback. I think it was a 1985 or thereabouts.

Now I feel old. lol

haha, not quite as old as me though :)

In 1987 I was driving my first one which was a 1972 estate that had been chopped into a pick-up. I'll find the pictures at home and blog them, it was such a fun car to have as my first one :)
