'Ray! I can use my one interesting art-related fact! Holbein's Henry the VIII was:
1) Not painted by Holbein (the original was destroyed in a fire, we only have copies)
2) Not of King Henry the VIII (he had a stand-in for those long portrait sessions. Most people would never see him in the flesh anyway, so who would know?)

I'm going to hedge this by saying it's possible none of that is true. But I'd actually quite like to think it is.

Thanks for the comments folks.

Gael and Swamprose: It was indeed a splendid gift. We went up to town earlyish and took DD to see Holbein's famous "The Ambassadors" painting in the National first. Then we had lunch in the West End and looked at the Christmas windows. Then we met the half a sister & Wraith at the Tate and did the Holbein exhibiton and the Turner galleries and had afternoon tea. Then we went to a carol service in a famous London church where we were joined by the BS's parents and had mince pies and mulled wine afterwards. Lastly we did the lights. My feet were killing me and DD was asleep before her head hit the pillow but it was a marvellously happy day.

Joker: It was a timed entry thing. You had 30 minutes from your allotted time to enter the gallery. Once there you could spend as much time as you liked. It was very crowded.

Crickson: Whether fact or myth it's still interesting and I'm glad you commented.
